The Mombo area is arguably the best game viewing area in Botswana with the greatest concentration of big cats in the Okavango Delta. This is due to its unique position at the top of Chiefs Island; the point at which the nutrient rich floodwaters arrive from their 1000km journey supporting an astonishing abundance of game and birdlife.
The highlight is the concentration of plains game and all the predators; lion and leopard sightings are particularly good, and guests can also see large herds of buffalo, cheetah, wild dog, elephant, hyena, giraffe, wildebeest and zebra. Black and white rhino have been reintroduced to this area of the Okavango with outstanding success thanks to the Botswana Rhino Reintroduction Programme. This is Big Game Safari at its very best! Also enjoy the elevated views from the camps two hides overlooking the floodplains and channels when the water levels are up
The eight huge luxurious tented guest rooms and connecting walkways are up to two metres off the ground, allowing game to wander freely through the camp – but at the same time allowing for your safety. The rooms are luxuriously furnished, spacious and have en-suite facilities under canvas – and an additional outdoor shower for those who enjoy a shower under the stars. There is one two-bedroom family unit comprising of two luxury en-suite canvas tents sharing an entrance, deck and plunge pool. The dining room, bar and living area overlook the open plain in front of the camp. Other facilities such as the safari boutique, spa, gym, and lap pool are shared with Wilderness Little Mombo camp.
