ELEWANA TORTILIS CAMP AMBOSELI

One cannot be more awe-inspired by the contrasts and enormity of the African landscape than upon arrival at the award-winning Elewana Tortilis Camp; situated just outside the park in one of Amboseli’s few remaining areas of unspoilt woodland, with the majestic backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, snow-capped Kilimanjaro it is simply breathtaking

The Experience

Amboseli is home to elephant families that have been closely followed and studied by world renowned researcher Cynthia Moss for over 25 years. Elewana Tortilis camps guides know the families and their histories intimately. These are some of the biggest elephants seen in Africa, as they have been protected for generations. There is an abundance of game within the Amboseli ecosystem that concentrates during the dry season around the spring fed swamps of the park. These swamps, with sedge grass and stands of papyrus, provide an important food supply for the grazing species, especially buffalo and elephant.

The Accommodation

The 16 tents tented rooms at Elewana Tortilis camp Amboseli are all large and spacious with elegant en suite bathrooms. There is a two-bedroom Family tent and two-bedroom villa which share a pool for larger groups or families. There is a main lounge, bar and dining area, pool area and spa/massage room, all exquisitely built with natural materials and thatched roofs, with a magnificent view of Kilimanjaro. The food is part of the charm, North Italian traditional recipes from the owner’s family cookbook, complimented by delicious salads and herbs.
