Ongava Tented Camp is tucked into a hidden valley at the foot of a dolomite hill in Ongava Game Reserve bordering Etosha National Park. Situated along the southern boundary of Etosha National Park, Namibia’s premier wildlife destination and one of Africa’s largest game reserves, Ongava Tented Camp is the ideal camp if it is an Etosha safari that you are after.
Game drives, visiting hides that overlook waterholes and walks with experienced guides can all be enjoyed exclusively on this reserve; it is one of the few private reserves in southern Africa where it is possible to see both Black and White Rhino. Most general game are present in the Ongava Game Reserve as well as within Etosha National Park: including springbok, gemsbok, wildebeest, Burchell’s zebra, Hartmann’s mountain zebra, waterbuck, red hartebeest, giraffe, eland and the endemic black-faced impala. Elephant can be found in the Park, with lion, leopard, and black and white rhino seen both there and on the reserve.
Eight large comfortable Meru-style tents all have en-suite facilities, open air showers and private verandas. The family unit comprises of two ensuite tents with separate entrances but linked by a short walkway. The main area, built of stone, canvas and thatch, fronts onto a much-frequented waterhole; watching wildlife coming to drink from here or from the swimming pool is a favourite pastime.
