The exclusive Chamilandu Bushcamp has only 3 open-fronted, stilted rooms set on one of the South Luangwa’s prime river locations. Being 2 metres high they are perfect for a bird’s-eye view of the wildlife that the river and its lagoons attract.
Walking safaris and game drives around Chamilandu Bushcamp explore the impressive range of habitats in the area. With no fewer than seven oxbow lagoons behind camp, there are always thirsty animals around seeking refreshment. There is a hide looking out over one of these lagoons and is the perfect place to take lunch, tea or to while away an afternoon in a hammock to the soundtrack of bathing elephants. This area is phenomenal for walking safaris and sometimes guests walk between Chamilandu Bushcamp and its sister bushcamps to create a whole walking safari itinerary.
Chamilandu Bushcamps three exquisite tree-houses perch right on the edge of the Luangwa River. Each has its own raised veranda to loll on during the heat of the day, and an open-fronted en-suite bathroom with the same magnificent views over the tranquil waters. There is also a simple dining area, lounge and bar with stunning views over the Luangwa River and a hide next to a watering hole which is the perfect place to spend an afternoon siesta!
