Aditya

Situated on the West coast, only 30 minutes from the historic sights of Galle, this boutique intimate property is hidden away in a quiet and peaceful location on a beautiful stretch of secluded beach. The accent is on unrestrained luxury, personalised service and privacy, together with a commitment to minimising the impact on the environment

The Experience

The Restaurant at Aditya is situated overlooking the gardens close to the beach, with open sided walls allowing meals to be enjoyed while listening to the sound of waves breaking on the shore. Here the world class chef is on hand to cater to the tastes of every client with a cosmopolitan menu that includes dishes from Thailand and the Mediterranean as well as those from Sri Lanka; there is naturally an emphasis on the freshest of sea food which will delight even the most discerning diner. Here there is no set time or place for eating, instead guests may choose where and when they wish to dine and the staff will be delighted to set up a table in the place of their choosing. It may be a private barbeque under the trees in the garden or a romantic table for two on the beach.

For those who would like to learn how to cook some of the delicious meals they have had, the Chef has devised a comprehensive programme to introduce guests to the art of exotic Sri Lankan cookery. Participants will be taken on an early morning tour of the local market to choose only the freshest fish and vegetables which, back at the hotel they will see transformed into a typical Sri Lankan meal.

There is an array of fascinating experiences just a short drive from Aditya; the 15th century walled Galle Fort, whale and dolphin watching off the coast at Marissa, or at Balapitiya, an up river excursion that will delight nature lovers. Maybe stroll along the deserted beach in the moonlight and possibly catch the wondrous sight of hundreds of turtle hatchings begin their journey to the sea.

Above all this is a place in which guests can unwind and relax, swim in the pool, walk along the beach or have a rejuvenating spa treatment in the privacy of their suite, or at the Aditya Spa.

The Accommodation

The 12 extremely spacious suites share the same luxury amenities and facilities, each with the added benefit of its own private plunge pool. They do not have numbers but are named after deities of Hindu mythology; Shanthi Suites are really charming with some having not only superb verandahs which look out over the garden, but also ceilings decorated with celestial designs. Sagara Suites have amazing bathrooms leading to their private plunge pools and the extremely spacious accommodation leads to a private balcony which affords spectacular views towards the beach and Indian Ocean beyond. The most special suite of all is the Surya Suite, a fabulous penthouse which occupies two floors; on the lower level a living room is the perfect place to relax, read a book, watch a movie or entertain, while upstairs the mezzanine floor is home to a magnificent carved wooden bed. Outside is a lovely private sun terrace and plunge pool overlooking the ocean; perfect for watching the colours in the sky change from pink to orange as the sun sinks below the horizon.
