COMO Uma Ubud

The Experience

The cuisine at COMO Uma Ubud uses carefully selected locally produced food, which includes delicious seafood and fresh vegetables. The main restaurant, Kemiri, sits at the very heart of the property surrounded by lush gardens and has a menu that includes not only traditional Indonesian dishes but also classic international cuisine. Children are also well catered for, with their own menu from which to choose delicious food. Those who like lighter, nutritionally rich cuisine should choose from the very popular COMO Shambala Cuisine menu. Freshness is of paramount importance with ingredients mainly sourced from local farmers, the flavours are strong and the technique is sophisticated; all of these elements combine to make dishes which stand apart. Uma Cucina is the latest dining venue, located at the front of the property it will offer guests relaxed Italian cuisine in a street side setting.

There are many activities on offer, some of which are on a complimentary basis, such as yoga or a morning walk through the rice paddies surrounding the property. For an additional charge guests can try mountain biking or white water rafting, guided treks through local villages or visits to temples. The hotel actively engages with the culture and community In nearby Ubud and will be pleased to arrange visits and make appointment to meet with local artisans and visit galleries.

The COMO Shambala Retreat, with its four treatment rooms is a haven of calm, serenity and wellbeing. Massages relax and relieve tension using specially blended oils, body treatments nourish and pamper, while facials, using COMO Shambala’s PURIFY skincare nourish and cleanse the skin.

To add to the feeling of wellbeing there is also a 25 metre pool, gym, reflexology area, sauna and steam room. There is also an open air yoga studio which has views over the Tjampuhan Valley.

The Accommodation

With narrow paths and lush planting connecting the rooms and suites the whole resort has an entirely residential feel, with the charm of an Indonesian village. Indigenous materials are used throughout the 46 light filled rooms and suites, with carved panels opening up to allow views of the natural landscape. All of the accommodation has crisp white linens, Como Shambala bathroom amenities, complimentary internet access, iPod docking station, yoga mat and much more. Four Ubud rooms located on the upper floor have hand carved king size beds and oversize bathrooms, each also has a conservatory complete with relaxing day bed. 18 bright and airy Terrace rooms have four poster beds, bathrooms have a sunken bath and outdoor shower, windows are covered with carved panels and French doors open to a private terrace which overlooks the gardens. Each of the 10 water garden rooms has an open air courtyard which is lushly planted, has a comfortable seating area and even a fishpond; the interiors are light filled and bathrooms have a black and white colour scheme. 4 Pool suites have private plunge pools and sundecks which offer garden views. The tranquil interior has the added benefit of a conservatory and study, perfect for work or to accommodate a child, again bathrooms are generous and feature sunken baths. The spacious Uma Villa not only has a bedroom with four poster bed, and generous bathroom, but also a sitting and dining room. Outside there is a private terrace with views across the Tjampuhan Valley and day beds, perfect for relaxation. Similar in style and size to the Uma Villa, each of the 3 Uma Pool Villas also has the added benefit of their own private plunge pool. 5 spacious Pool Villas feature a private swimming pool, sundeck with spectacular views over the valley below. They also have a conservatory with daybed, king size bed and a bathroom with oversize bath and shower. The COMO Villa, with master bedroom, spa treatment area, a bathroom with Jacuzzi, sitting area for relaxing and outside a spacious sundeck and infinity pool, is the ultimate in luxury.
